What Is The Best Way to Keep My Child Safe At A Public Swimming Pool?

Safety First At Public Swimming Pools

On the premises of a public swimming pool, there will likely be no baby barrier once you enter the swimming pool area. There are steps you can take, however, to make sure that your child has a safe and enjoyable swimming experience.

* Dress your child in a brightly colored swimsuit. This can help you to spot them whether they are in or out of the swimming pool.

* Supervise your child's activity at all times while in the swimming pool area. Never, ever leave a child unsupervised in or around the swimming pool.

* Avoid areas of the swimming pool where people are clustered. The crowded portions of public swimming pools are danger zones, as you, or lifeguards and other adults, will have more difficulty noticing someone in distress.

* Be sure your child is wearing a U.S. Coast Guard-approved life jacket. It should fit well and be properly secured before even entering the swimming pool area.
