What Kind of Water Safety Items Should I Have Around My Pool?

Life-Saving Devices Should Be Kept Next To Swimming Pool

Keep life-saving devices either in your swimming pool or directly next to the pool. Swimming pool fences are meant to keep those who cannot swim out of the area. However, there should be other water safety devices in the area in the event that the baby barrier is bypassed. Those devices include: a life jacket, a safety line, a Shepard's crook and an inner tube.

For example, two inner tubes that stay in your swimming pool regularly could help if someone falls into the pool and cannot swim well or at all. Keep one tube tied to the side of the pool in the deep end and one in the shallow. Be certain the rope has plenty of slack, so the tube floats in the middle of the pool.
